Enel X Juicebox Shutdown, what's next alternative?

Port your home charger over to Pulse Energy at no additional cost
October 4, 2024

Today I got a notification saying that Enel X is shutting down their software services in the US and all EV chargers will effectively loose their connectivity. This means home charger users will not longer be able to schedule their EV charging sessions, they will no longer be able to set a specific rate of charging, and home users who have purchased it via their city’s electricity company will no longer get the utility rebate while EV charging.

This is a huge loss for the home charger users in the US, so here is what we are willing to do to help these about to be stranded users.

We are offering our EV charging software at no additional cost so home EV charger users can continue to use the services they have with Enel X’s cloud services. Now as a disclaimer, we may not have all features from day 1 but happy to help work with the community to make it happen.

Below are the steps to port over our juicebox to a free OCPP server

Step 1: Sign up: Sign up on our website https://pulseenergy.io/register

Step 2: Account Registration: Within 24 hours, you will get an account provisioned to your email. You will receive a link to login into your cloud account. Within this account you can add your charger, once added you will get the OCPP url that you need to point your charger to.

Step 3: Porting your charger: Power cycle your juicebox charger and log into the charger by connecting to the Charger’s built in WiFi SSID. Once in, there is a built in page where you can update the charger OCPP settings. Once you update that setting to point to the OCPP url that’s provided to you in Step 2 you are all set.

Step 4: Starting and Stoping your charger: In the cloud account we provision, there is an option for you to download a QR code for your charger, all you need is to download it and paste it, once this is done, scan the QR code and you enter a landing page where you can start and stop your charger successfully. Once the session is started the page gets updated and keeps you up to date on the charging session that is ongoing.

(P.S. due to very high demand, we may be a bit slow in our responses, however, we make sure we get to everyone of you as we work through helping each home charger owner)

IEA and FIDE launched Digital Energy Grid (DEG) vision paper, what is it?

The International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Foundation for Interoperability in Digital Economy (FIDE) have released a visionary paper titled "Digital Energy Grid: A Vision for a Unified Energy Infrastructure." This document outlines a transformative framework aimed at digitizing energy transactions, assets, and participants to address inefficiencies in the current decentralized energy ecosystem. The proposed Digital Energy Grid (DEG) seeks to create an interoperable platform that enhances real-time data exchange, optimizes energy distribution, and facilitates the integration of renewable energy sources. Key objectives include the digitization of energy assets and transactions, enhanced interoperability, consumer empowerment, and the facilitation of renewable integration. The adoption of the DEG framework is anticipated to revolutionize the energy sector by reducing operational inefficiencies, promoting sustainable practices, and enhancing energy security. The full paper is available for download, and a detailed discussion can be viewed in the official launch event recording.
